What is PDF Spam?

We are all used to (more like completely annoyed or numb) typical spam email, Free iPhones, stock tips or vacations, etc. The Web is a paradise for spammers and unfortunately for many of us, we do not have the proper tools that we should have to combat these pesky, potential threats to our PC security.

A new wave of spam is emerging involving the PDF or Portable Document Format spam. These are the same PDF files that you are use to receiving from reputable companies.

While the ever popular image spam, especially with spammers, appears to be on the decline, PDF spam is hot … for now. So what exactly is this annoying new spam creation? The email itself contains no information, but the attachment is a very large PDF file that can contain pages of professional looking advertisements for stock tips, iPhones, and so on.

For those who travel for business or pleasure and have a laptop computer, the world of mobile communications is not new. You may be connecting to a wireless network in a hotel or use Wi-Fi for connecting to a cellular line. Most hotels have wireless networks that you can lease access to for the period of your stay.

Large corporations have provided access to their networks from remote workstations for a long time. However, the average person hasn’t had access like that in the past without leaving their computer on and paying for a service that allows them to access their home computer.

Sharing files over the Internet from remote locations requires you to keep copies of the documents you need on your laptop. But what happens when you forget to copy a document or file to your laptop before going on your trip? Suppose that file is a presentation you are scheduled to perform for a prospective client. How will you get that file after you are at your destination?
