For affiliate marketing, sometimes the home pages that are used to promote the product or service is confusing to visitors. It may not even have a strong call to action. That can be frustrating for affiliate marketers, mainly because they put all their effort into traffic generation, only to lose sales on company pages that are ineffective in sale conversions.
Some affiliates set up their own blogs to entice visitors to join, but the link given to them still goes to the company home page. There again, even though the visitor is ready to join, they are left wondering where the registration link is. Sometimes that link is buried in a menu.
When that happens, the visitor goes searching for another website where they can find the enrollment form. If they find another site, that new site will override the original cookie that was set to track the referring affiliate, giving credit to the next affiliate.
Cookies are a good thing to affiliate marketers and to websites in general. No private information is disclosed. They contain only the information needed to track sponsors, or the last page you were on. For instance, some sites set a cookie showing that you already saw an advertisement so that you will not see it again. Deleting that cookie will tell the website to show you that ad again.
That is getting a bit off track here, but meant to give you just a little more insight to cookies and why they can be good for you. Now there is another way to bypass a company home page that hides the join form or link. No more do you need to suffer with losing sales due to inexperienced website designers.
To accomplish this, you will use a 1 pixel iframe. Set it with the complete link to the company home page. When you do that, what happens is the page is loaded into that 1 pixel by 1 pixel iframe. That page sets a cookie for the website.
Once that cookie is set, you are free to link to the page where the enrollment form is. It will track the referral as if your visitor saw the home page first. Here is a sample iframe to use. Adjust the link to your use.
