My Favorite WordPress Plugins
Using these WordPress plugins can make your blog more interactive, sticky to keep visitors coming back for more and used by novices and power bloggers alike. Not all of these plugins need to be used on a single blog, depending on the focus of your site.
Where there are multiple options to perform a single task, I like to spread them out across several blogs to see which ones work best, or fit the look and feel of that site. I use every one of these plugins on various sites, except the eCommerce plugins. Those will come later as those sites are built. The ones listed are the best I found and tested in the WordPress Plugin category. Since this was originally posted on Feb 14, 2009, the list has continued to grow.
µAudio Player
Micro Audio Player converts links to mp3 files to a small flash player and a link to the raw file. Player by 1 Pixel Out. By Christopher O’Connell.
Adsense-Deluxe
Place Google AdSense ads and other dynamic content in your WordPress Posts. By Acme Technologies.
AdSense Injection takes a random paragraph (or br tag) break in your article and inserts AdSense code. It does one per story on multi-post pages (home, archive, category) and lets you pick how many to show on single post pages. AdSense Injection lets you pick how many total ads to show at any time as well (0-3) and it lets you set the formats and colors from which you want it to randomly select.
Akismet
Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. By Matt Mullenweg.
BDP RSS Aggregator

CommentLuv
Show a link to the last post from the commenters blog in their comment. Will parse a feed from most sites that have a feed location specified in its head html. By Andy Bailey.
Contact Form 7
When this plugin was introduced to me by Amy at Tux Technologies http://tuxtechnologies.com, I wondered if it would be just another one of those contact forms that either had too little control, or not enough options to be usable. Once she installed it I looked through it and saw that you not only had total control over the elements, but the extra fields are neatly tucked into a collapsing menu.

NEW ADDITION
Contextual Partnership
This is a free plugin for WordPress allows you to exchange contextual text links with thousands of other quality WordPress bloggers automatically. When your link is displayed on other sites, you get traffic from them. Likewise, you could be sending traffic to other sites. With that in mind, there may be some pages which you may want to keep off the exchange network. That option is in your post editing screen, towards the bottom.
NOTE: One drawback to this plugin is if you use SEO Smart Links or another plugin to automatically link certain words or phrases. If they match the Contextual Partnership words, Contextual Partnership will win the battle and link to the other site. So when setting up the partnership, choose different words to link other than those you are using for your own links.
FeedWordPress

Inline Javascript Plugin
Inserts inline javascript in Posts/Pages By Volcano.

It also imports all your current settings from the All in one SEO Plugin. You need to disable All In One SEO before enabling the Platinum SEO Pack or they will conflict with each other. Once activated, there will be SEO options at the bottom of your editing screen.

WordTwit is a plugin that uses the Twitter API to automatically push a published post to your Twitter account as a tweet.
WP Super Cache generates static HTML files from your dynamic WordPress blog. After an HTML file is generated your web server will serve that file instead of processing the comparatively heavier and more expensive WordPress PHP scripts, also saving you from doing more database lookups, which slow your site.
Facebook Plugins
CR Post to Ping.fm
If you do not yet have a Ping.fm account, get one! Then install this plugin, get the API key from Ping.fm (in the Application Keys section) and put it into the CR Post to Ping.fm options page. Go back to Ping.fm and add your favorite site to post updates, such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, Plurk, Skype, etc. Once you have thos configured, all you need is Ping.fm to update ALL the sites you added. When CR Post to Ping.fm updates Ping.fm, all your sites will be updated too. SWEET!

Clicking this link will bring the user to the Facebook site so post will be added to the Mini-Feed of their account.

Well written. This is what I’ve been looking for.
That is really great. Gathering people with the same interest is really good. Thank you for expanding my knowledge.
I really liked your blog!

I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. You give such a good detail on SEO and I really like it. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.

Hey, this is a great post. Now I know how to optimize my site. Thanks for sharing how to find dofollow blogs!
Greatly appreciated.
Very nice information. This is the information that I’ve been looking for. I’ve been looking for this throughout the web however they are not as informative as this
Thank you so very much for this information, Jim! I’ve been wondering how to manage those 125×125 ads and now I know. I also didn’t know about the Platinum SEO Pak and will give it a try. Appreciate you so much! Bill
I like the Max Banner Ads because there are so many options to control the positioning and duration. Without registering the plugin, you will always see the “Powered by” link. Another free one is My Ad Manager. That one is pretty basic and easy to use, but will not let you edit the ads once they are entered.
Oh Yes! I forgot to mention this. On the MaxBlogPress Strip Ad, I’m not too keen on that one. I had installed it on 3 of my blogs and watched my Google Alerts for those 3 sites just about disappear…..along with some traffic. I had Cathy Perkins, the Wordpress Wizard, look into this and she immediately told me to disable those stripe ads, that Google doesn’t like those. I did and everything returned to normal. It’s been my experience that MaxBlogPress has some great articles and helps, but I don’t install their ads on my sites.
Also, I love the Odiogo “Listen Now” buttons, which reads the blog post to the site visitor and converts your blog post to a podcast for indexing.
Bill
Thanks for the info on Odiogo. That looks like an automated system to convert text to speech. I have been using either Talking Speaker, Read The Words or just making the podcasts myself. Having it automated is nice and the sound quality is comparable to the others, except my own, of course.
I find it interesting that Google does not like the MaxBlogPress Stripe Ads since they just sit on top of the page. I can see where it would be the first thing indexed though, which can take away from the rest of the content if it is not related. Having related ads could help you though… at least I would think it would. Moving it down below the posts can also help.
This is really cool, and I cannot wait to try it. I will have to spread the word.
Please post some plugins for Facebook integrator
Very nice information. Thanks for this.
I really liked your blog!

Social comments and analytics for this post…
This post was mentioned on Twitter by jimhutchinson: Added another entry to My Favorite WordPress Plugins: Post Notification http://ow.ly/h2lg...
My favorite plugin is all in one seo pack. I am trying to do the same for .net CMS called Graffiti.
Excellent post. This was actually what I was looking for, and I am glad that I finally came here! Thanks for sharing the such information with us.
Post comments on websites automatically using automated comments posting software. Get thousands of backlinks per day, increase your sales and earnings. Automated comments poster is the best way to build backlinks and promote websites automatically!
The only reason I approved this comment was to let others know that automated comment posting not only fills space with trash, it takes up more time that bloggers who provide real content have to spend deleting the crap that is wasting space. Comments are supposed to be for providing feedback, asking questions and interacting with the writers, not for the junk advertising you are promoting and inviting others to do. When you get personal you will get better comment approval rates, higher quality feedback and respect as someone who is genuine, instead of being known as a spammer.
It?s nice to finally locate a website where the blogger is knowledgable.
I looks like you got it all figure out in this industry, was there anyone that you looked up to or follow that you would highly recommend?
It’s interesting to find how challenging the content side is for some
